Gambling Movements in Qld Over 15 Years
Land based poker machine gaming has held up surprisingly well over the last 15 years. That form of gaming in clubs and pubs dropped between 2009 to 2012 but in recent years it’s bounced back, mainly on the back of gaming growth in the pub sector and some strong product on the floor.
Casino gaming has also trended upwards since 2013, mainly through capital expenditure at the Gold Coast and Townsville properties. Lotteries and traditional wagering continue to dwindle.
But that’s no reason for the State Government to ignore growth initiatives and reforms for poker machine gaming as the public at large turn to online forms of entertainment.
