Economics

Clubs as we know them are unique to Australia. It’s important that clubs continue to evaluate themselves and identify trends in the sector, and measure the contributions that clubs provide to the social and economic fabric of our community.

We have completed the Social and Economic Profile of clubs in 1999 and again in 2009 and provided a sector paper for the Leagues Clubs Association on the contribution and profitability of “field-based sporting clubs” in 2019.

But at a more local level, it’s important to tell your club’s story to stakeholders – local, state and federal government and industry in the area. That involves showing what you do for the community through contributions, how many members you have, where they come from, how many people you employ, how much your club raises in terms of taxes and levies and how you contribute to learning and skills development through training.
