Qld EGM Gaming Analysis May 2023

May was up on last month by 1.5% but the normal trend was evident with hotels running hot in the colder football-dominated months.
They were up by 4.2% compared with club gaming down by -1.8%.

Depending on the number of Friday and weekend days, May is normally up on April by 3%-5%. The loss of trading for a part of ANZAC Day in April also has an impact on the April/May results. April this year benefited from five weekend periods too but May had four weekend trading periods.

Some warm northern regional areas are doing well as the southern migration for the winter takes shape.

Indications are that June activity is holding firmly in most markets. The second half of last year was very strong so it will interesting to see the June 2023 results compared with last year.

Happy trading
